Commonly Faced doubts with clarifications
in
Ayyappa Swamy Deeksha
Om Sri Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa
D) My Child affected with Chicken Pox? Can I continue the deeksha?
C) Yes. You can continue the deeksha. Take the name of lord and be rest assured that he will take care.
D) My relative expired? Can I continue the deeksha?
C) If there is a direct blood relation like father, mother, brother, sister, grand mother, grand father etc, you cannot continue the deeksha.
D) I work in Call Center with night Shift? Can I take swamy deeksha?
C) Absolutely! Anyone irrespective of their caste, creed, religion, status etc can take swamy deeksha.
D) Is it a must that I put a peetam. I dont know the method of doing puja, but I am interested in taking swamy deeksha?
C) It is not a mandatory to put a peetam. If you cant afford to put a peetam, you can be associated with your guruswamy or any other senior swamy who is putting a peetam and continue your deeksha with him.
D) Is it good to do the deeksha in single or do in a group. Some of my friends/relatives do their deeksha in group?
C) It depends on for what purpose you are taking the deeksha. Is it is for any fulfilment of desire or is it for your personal growth etc. Both are having its own advantages. At initial stages it is better to do the deeksha in a group as we dont know the procedures. And in the beginning stages, it is better to be in group as a part of satsang. Positive vibrations, positive thoughts, multiple minds focused on one single goal to have the darshan of ayyappa by going together as a part of yatra. So being a part of group, we can learn much as well gives flexibility to enhance our personality and various other dimensions of life. As we go on higher stages such as 7th time or 8th time onwards, can do the deeksha in single where our goal is for our personal inner growth. Doing deeksha in single gives better scope for self analysis, inner purification, inner growth, self transformation etc.
D) I have seen people arranging a costly swamy puja? I cannot afford that much? Is it necessary to spend that lavish to perform swamy puja?
C) Yat bhavam that bhavati. As is the idea such is the result. There is no rule that you should spend this much or that much in doing a swamy puja. It is only out of sheer love and devotion towards the lord that people spend that much. If swamy puja is performed at home, it is good for that family. So depending upon your capability only you could perform the puja, no rule that only this much needs to be spent or that much needs to be spent. Even if you can call a few swamy's (atleast 5), that is much enough if your heart is filled with love and devotion towards swamy. Size of the puja is not the criteria, but if you have the capability and with love and devotion towards swamy you are spending then its upto you.
D) It becomes very late in Swamy puja to offer the bhiksha (food)? why is it so? Do they not maintain the timing for bhiksha (food) in their deeksha? Is it correct on their part to make such delay?
C) Yes, the swamy's need to maintain the timings for the intake of bhiksha (food) and also offering the bhiksha (food) to other swamy's. No swamy has the right to disturb the schedule of any other swamy as well the progress of their deeksha, rather they need to follow the rules of deeksha and offer bhiksha at the right time helping other swamy's as well themselves. The good time for the afternoon bhiksha is between 12:00 pm noon to 2:00 pm and the night time bhiksha(alpahaaram) is between 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Whenever some swamy is arranging for puja at his home, he needs to take care about this aspect. The swamy's out of their sheer love and devotion towards the lord extend a little bit timing in bhajans which will make it a little bit late, but it should not be too late where the hunger totally subsides and it is beyond the acceptable timings.Sometimes it is a testing sort of thing whether the swamy's are able to overcome the thought of hunger while they are participating in swamy puja. Depending on the practical situation also, the swamy's should consider, because various people might need to travel back different distances to their respective places. Also the swamy's need to attend their next puja schedule.
D) My wife is pregnant and due for delivery? Can I take Swamy deeksha?
C) If your wife is fifth month or above, for various reasons it is better not to take Swamy deeksha this year and can take next year or can take it after the delivery.
D) I cannot cook myself ? Is it ok if my wife cooks for me?
C) Swamy's should eat that food which is satwik in nature, because the food we eat reflects our thoughts. So it is always preferable that we cook ourselves as we are in a focused way of thought process namely deeksha. So we will be always in the promixity of lord in various forms such as puja, bhajan, saranu ghosha etc. If we cannot cook ourselves, it is always better if some other swamy cooks, because he is also in the same boat in which we are travelling. It is also permissible if a mother cooks for her child, because mother is the first god for a child, guide and well wisher and there is no better person on this whole earth who can be purer in thought , action other than a mother. It is also acceptable if your wife cooks, if she is able to maintain that thought process and also follow the cleanliness etc in the mind, body and kitchen. Because your wife is a better half of you and she is also willing to participate by serving you and supporting you and she is also able to maintain that thought process towards swamy and able to see you as a swamy not as a husband, it is acceptable.
D) I am a married person. Is it necessary to take permission from my wife to take swamy deeksha?
C) Yes. It is absolutely necessary for a married person to get permission from his wife whole heartedly to go ahead in taking swamy deeksha. You donot have any right to trouble your wife, so it is necessary to take her permission before taking deeksha. It is always better to explain her the facts and convince her to permit to take the deeksha. If a person is not married or he is a child, he needs to take permission from his parents.
D) I frequently travel. If I take deeksha, how should I manage my puja schedules.
C) If it is possible to return back to Sannidanam by the Puja time, it is good. If you cannot make it for the time, someone in the home/sannidanam can light the diya/deepam after taking bath on your behalf and you can take the name of lord by chanting the Saranams from whereever you are by submitting your inability to the lord that you are in travel and cannot make it to the sannidanam and if possible can visit any near by temple or if any swamy is approachable, you can join him in his puja.
D) I frequently travel. If I take deeksha, how should I manage my bhiksha.
C) If you are out of station, check for some temple where annadan is performed or any swamy puja is happening or if possible if you could manage with fruits and milk or if some house holder invites you for bhiksha as a swamy, then you can definetly without hesitation partake the food as there is no one purer than them, they are seeing lord ayyappa in you and with pure heart have invited you and offering you food.
D) During Deeksha my father/ my mother cermony occurs. What should I do.
C) It is the moral duty of the son to pay respect to his mother/ father and also his forefathers. Even there is a namah in the astotaram of Ayyappa namely "Tarpana Priyayah Namah". So without any doubt one can perform the ceremony, even Lord Ayyappa will bless you and appreciate you.
D) I have a small room where I stay with my wife. what should I do during those 3 days of my wife's periods.
C) Swamy's should not see or talk to any woman during those 3 days period. If every possiblity is there, better to let them be away during those days such as stay at their parents/ friends/ neighbours/ relatives etc house. Under very unavoidable situations where there is no possiblity for your wife to go to other place. It is better at the beginning itself to plan the sannidanam at a different place so as not to trouble your wife. Even under circumstances such as not able to have a sannidanam at different place nor able to send your wife to other place, then let her not see you by having some sort of partition during those days where you dont see her nor talk to her.
As and when I get updates on other aspects, I will update this page. And if anybody know anyother info, they can help to update this page.
These are the common doubts which people intending to take swamy deeksha or after taking the deeksha may face. Here I am just posting whatever I know, For further clarification, please contact your guruswamy or any guruswamy who is accessible to you.
swamy my mother expired on9th NOV 2015, and father expired on july 23rd 2016 we did peetru pooja over should i take deeksha.
ReplyDeleteNamaskaram! As it is direct blood relation (your mother and father) you are not supposed to take the deeksha till your father yearly cermony is completed. Next year you can take deeksha.
DeleteSir sope vadavacha plz cheppara
DeleteIf a person newly married, then after how many days he is eligible to take ayyappa Mala after marriage ...please explain is
ReplyDeleteNamaskaram! There is no such time frame that you have to take deeksha after so many days, but few points you need to keep in mind. The first thing is that you need to take permission from your wife to take deeksha and she has to whole heatedly give you permission to take deeksha. Second thing is that you need to have self control and your thoughts should not be disturbed and in such case you can go ahead with your deeksha and sabari yatra. So in view of these two points, take decision appropriately.
DeleteI pray for you and your family. May the blessings of Lord be showered on you. May Lord give you enough wisdom to take the correct decision.
Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa.
Many thanks swamy !! I am happy for your prompt response and suggestions ..
DeleteHi Sk_Prasad Swamy,
DeleteI am currently in ayyappa deeksha,
And I am not able to wake up in the morning before sun rise due to work schedule. I am doing pooja between 8am-9am. How can compensate it?
Swami my wife is pregnant and in 3rd month, can i take deeksha ple advise me
ReplyDeleteNamaskar! Om GuruSwamiye ! Saranam Ayyappa!
DeleteYou can take deeksha and do sabari yatra. It is not advisable if she is above 5th month. By the time she is nearing 5th month, I think you will return back from sabari yatra. so you can go ahead and take deeksha.
I pray for you and your family. May your deeksha and sabari yatra be fruitful and you have a wonderful darshan of lord.

Can swami's doing deeksha sleep in the afternoon??
ReplyDeleteNamaskar! Om Guru Swamiye ! Saranam Ayyappa!
DeleteDeeksha is for a specific purpose and the rules are designed so that body and mind are prepared and to make them ready to reach that goal namely tatwamasi (knowing thyself or the knowing the GOD). To reach this goal, we need to follow the satwic path, whereas sleeping in the afternoon is a tamasic path. So swami's doing deeksha should not sleep in the afternoon, unless there is some difficulty or inability, for whom they can have some relaxation or flexibility, because the rules are only to prepare the body and mind and not to trouble them. Please know the subtle difference. If everything is fine, let laziness not be the cause and you have to follow deeksha rules, if inability or genuine difficulty is there, those can take some relaxation and sleep, because you need to again do the evening puja.
Please follow all the deeksha rules within your possible capacities and it doesn't mean that you can take liberty for all the relaxations, the flexibility of relaxation is given for genuine causes keeping in the larger interest of the goal to be reached, because that is more important.
I hope you understand this by the grace of swamy. I pray for you and your family.

swami ye saranam ayyapa,
ReplyDeletein mala can i sit on nomulu?
Namaskar! Om Guru Swamiye! Saranam Ayyappa!
DeleteYes you can sit on nomulu or even if it is any puja or other vratham or any daiva karyam, you can participate
Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
Iam taking dheeksha first time.can I stay single in room.
ReplyDeleteNamaskaram! Om Guru Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
DeleteYes you can stay single in room, but preferably if you have an option to stay with guruswamy or any senior swamy it is advisable. Because you are taking it for first time, you may not be aware of the procedures or the rules etc and you may get lot of doubts what to do and what not to do, then it is advisable if you can stay along with some senior swamy or guruswamy who can guide you properly.
And please take care of your words what you speak, try to avoid negative talk or gossip. Always try to speak politely, positively. Generally there is a belief that your sabari yatra is a reflection of your deeksha. If you do your deeksha sincerely, then your sabari yatra will be smooth and you will have a wonderful darshan of swamy. So you can check for yourselves, how was your deeksha and how was your sabari yatra.
Please dont assume or conclude anything and in doubt ask guruswamy and act accordingly.
I pray swamy for you and your family. May your deeksha and sabari yatra be fruitful and you have a wonderful darshan of lord.

ReplyDeleteNamaskaram! Om Guru Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
DeleteYes, you can go to ayyappa swami bhiksha to your relatives home. It is swamy prasadam and there is no restriction to have swamy prasadam. Actually it is a blessing to get swamy prasadam. So, without any inhibition, you can go ahead.
Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
Sir, i am in deeksha i know askalitha brhmacharyam is very important but one night i had swapna skalanam that is skalanam in sleeping, now can i continue deeeksha or not, please tell me I am in big dilemma
ReplyDeleteNamaskaram! Om Guruswamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
DeleteThis kind of thing is a natural process which has come while you are sleeping, so there is no dosha and you can continue your deeksha.
But take care about the food you take and kind of things which you read and watch and people you move with. If your mind is trying to intentionally divert your attention towards desires and other aspects, then consciously you need to shift the mind towards swamy and then you can win over your mind. Only one and only one remedy is "Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa", whenever your mind is trying to get diverted, start chanting saranalu and slowly by practice your mind comes into control. Apart from that, in the morning and evening after your puja, confess to swamy about your difficulty and pray to him to give enough strength so that your mind stays focused on swamy and doesn't get diverted towards other things.
I pray for you and your family. May swamy bless you with enough strength to win over your mind. May your deeksha and sabari yatra be fruitful by the grace of swamy and you have a wonderful darshan of swamy.
Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa.
Thank you very much swamy, i am dissappointed a lot now my doubt is clear, I'm pure vegetarian i always eat sathwik food, I must follow your suggestions. Thanks a lot. Swamiye saranam ayyappa.
Deletecan we wear ayyapa mala by mother? or we need to wear only by guru swamy
ReplyDeleteNamaskaram! Om GuruSwamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
DeleteMatro Devo Bhava, Pitru Devo Bhava, Acharya Devo Bhava.
Mother is the first guru and living god. It is popularly said that God created mother, just because he cant be at all places. There is no one greater than mother who is a well wisher of you. Any religion has given the highest status to mother. Words are less to describe about a mother.
Mother is rightly having the authority to put on mala to her son apart from a guruswamy or pujari (tantri) of a ayyappa swamy temple. After your sabari yatra, even she can remove your mala.
I pray for you and your family. Do the deeksha with sincerity and follow the rules of deeksha properly and by the grace of swamy, you will have a fruitful deeksha and sabari yatra and a wonderful darshan of swamy.
Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
Namaskaram! Om Guru Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
ReplyDeleteYes you can wear Ayyappa Mala without any inhibition or doubt.
I pray for you and your family. May Swamy bless you.

Hi, I'm on Aiyyappa deeksha for over a month now. My wife is having her periods and I'm staying away from her. But I was speaking to her over phone for house hold things as she is staying alone. Is that ok I can speak to her over phone as I've not come in contact with her directly or seen her ever since. Please advice
ReplyDeleteNamaskaram! Om Guruswamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
DeleteSwamy for various reasons, it has been designed in the deeksha rules, that swamy's should not interact with women during that period. So, in earlier days, we never used to interact with them, because of the technology today, we are saying that we are not directly seeing them or speaking them, but talking only on phone, so somehow not suggested. In these kind of situations, you can communicate to them either through sms or if any person is there, you can communicate through the intermediate third person, can be your children, or parents, or neighbours etc, or use some mechanism like sending through paper slip communication.
Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
Hi Swamy,
ReplyDeleteWhy people chant 'Hari' before Bhiksha and 'Hara' after having bhiksha?
Namaskaram! Om Guru Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
DeleteSwamy is the son of Hari and Hara. Thats the reason we call him hariharasutane saranam ayyappa. He is known as annadanaprabhu. And in swamy deeksha, doing annadana is considered as the best means of getting the grace of swamy. It is considered as sastha preethi.
And this is the easy way to get the grace of swamy, where we remember his mother(hari) and his father(hara). Swamy likes being called hariharasutane, because we are always remembering his father and mother. From this we also should learn to respect our parents, because parents are living gods. Our vedas, puranas, upanishads and all also quote the same- matro devo bhava, pitru devo bhava, acharya devo bhava, athidi devo bhava -, mother is the first god, then father, then acharya, then athithi. Our tradition says that these are all the forms of god only. So when a swamy does puja and does annadana, he sees that all the people who came to eat are forms of swamy only. The people who are eating also treat that the food offered to them is the prasadam of swamy. To be more specific, it is swamy who is eating being within you, that's the reason, while you are eating, you shouldn't wear a shirt. And its the practice to always offer the food to lord and partake it as his prasadam. So, to get the grace of swamy, we say Hari before eating and Hara after eating.
Out of all danas, annadana is considered the best, where you are feeding a hungry soul. And only in this dana, there will be fulfillment and satisfaction. In all other danas, no one will be satisfied and they always ask for more, but in annadana, they feel satisfied and contentful that their hunger is subsided. so, when a satisified person with his whole heart blesses, the person who has done annadana will get swamy's blessings. That's the reason at the end of partaking food, we say sukhibhava, sukhibhava, annadaata sukhibhava. And it is a common belief, that swamy comes in one or other form and mostly in the form of kanne swamy, thats the reason, when a kanne swamy comes for annadan, they feel as if swamy himself had come walking to their house and having the food.
I hope you understand this by the grace of swamy, and at any point of time, if it is feasible, definitely arrange for bhiksha for some swamy's (depending on your capacity) to have the complete grace of swamy.
Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
Guru Swamy, before having food from plate ...we generally take water in hand and put around the leaf or plate with Saranam Ayyappa slogan and we eat.. what is the meaning of this process ...please explain like what we have to do before started for food
ReplyDeleteNamaskaram! Om Guru Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
DeleteThe process of sprinkling water around the leaf or plate is the process of purification, and chanting the saranam ayyappa slogan is the significance of thanks giving before we eat. We need to understand this a little bit more to have the right perspective towards these acts.
We need to understand the process how we are getting the food onto our plate- first farmer sows the seeds and from the seed plants grow, then once the grains are ready, they are cut by so many workers, then picked up and transported, then when the householder gets them from market,it is his mother or wife or someone who cooks them and prepares the food. So to have some food ready on our plate means so many people have put their effort, time which resulted in having the food ready onto our plate. So we should always pray for them and their well being and prosperity and be thankful for their efforts and service and show our gratitude that thanks for all of you, I am able to get this food ready on my plate, which I am able to eat and subside my hunger. Above all we should always be thankful to God who has given us this food, because think once who is making the plants grow from seeds, if farmer is sowing the seeds and the plant doesnt grow, then the remaining chain will not continue and finally you cant have food. So we also need to be thankful to the lord.
The food we eat is only being converted to our life forces and which will make us live hale and healthy. And basing on the food we eat only our thoughts will be, and basing on our thoughts only, our habits develop and basing on our habits only our attitude and behaviour develops which finally will become our character. And success, happiness, right conduct, right thinking, decision making and other attributes in life come to people with good character. So to have this, the root is having right kind of food. So it is more important that it is prepared in right sense- that is have purity at all levels namely thought, word and action- both people who are preparing food and people who are eating food.
So people who are preparing or cooking the food, if they have lord in their thoughts, chant the name of lord by words, and in action they cook thinking that they are cooking for swamy- then this kind of food is pure and will do good for the people who eat. Similarly on the part of people who are eating it, first sprinkle around the leaf for purification process as well to avoid small insects or any other thing should not fall in the food, it is like a boundary around the plate, then pray swamy and offer this to swamy and partake as his prasadam. The prayer to swamy cleanses the food of the three impurities caused by the absence of cleanliness of the vessel, cleanliness of the food stuff, and cleanliness in the process of cooking. It is necessary to get rid of these three impurities to purify the food, for pure food goes into the making of a pure mind. It is not possible to ensure the purity of the cooking process because we do not know what thoughts rage in the mind of the person who prepares the food. Similarly, we cannot ensure the cleanliness of the food ingredients because we do not know whether it was acquired in a righteous way by the person who sold it to us. Hence, it is essential on our part to offer food to God in the form of prayer so that these three impurities do not afflict our mind
contd..
So generally, we should do the following prayer
DeleteBrahmaarpanam Brahma Havir
Brahmaagnau Brahmanaahutam
Brahmaiva Tena Gantavyam
Brahma Karma Samaadhinaha
(
The act of offering is God, the oblation is God
By God it is offered into the Fire of God
God is That which is to be attained by him
who performs action pertaining to God-Bhagavad Gita, Chapter IV, verse 24)
Aham Vaishvaanaro Bhutva
Praaninaam Dehamaashritha
Praanaapaana Samaa Yuktaha
Pachaamyannam Chatur Vidam
(Becoming the life-fire in the bodies of living beings
mingling with the subtle breaths,
I digest the four kinds of food.- Bhagavad Gita, Chapter XV, verse 14.)
Harir Daatha Harir Bhoktha
Harir Annam Prajaapatih
Harir Vipra Shareerastu
Bhoonkte Bhojayathe Harih.
"The food thus offered to God is digested by 'Vaishwanara" in the digestive system. Since God exists in the form of fire as Vaishwanara, He digests the food along with the impurities. So, man will not be affected even if the impurities enter the food
If you cant say all these, atleast chant annadana prabhuve saranam ayyappa and show gratitude to swamy that you got to eat his prasad and eat.
I hope you understand this by the grace of swamy.
Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!

DeleteYou have got a chance to perform Astabhisekham to swamy and you got the prasadam of those materials means you got blessings of swamy. All the materials which you mentioned above are prasadam of swamy and you can use them in your regular life and why should you be scared to use them in your regular days.
Any of your family members can apply the gandham or vibuthi daily. You can use the honey and ghee as a remedy for cold/cough etc. The ghee can be used as a remedy for arthritis, pains etc. where you can apply it over the parts where there is pain or else you can prepare pongal or any sweet using the ghee and can have it.
Have faith in swamy and use all those materials as swamy prasadam.

Whatever good you have learned and discipline which you have followed during deeksha period, please try to implement in your daily life and you will reach the heights of success. Always think good, speak good and act good. This will help you in your inner transformation and you will feel peace within.
I pray for you and your family. May swamy shower his blessings on you all.

Thanks swamy we will try to implement the same in daily life ...Your suggestions are valuable !!
ReplyDeleteSwamiji after taking Deeksha can I go to gym and after that can I do yoga if I can tell me the timings
ReplyDeleteNamaskar! Om Guru Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
DeleteIf going to gym and doing yoga are your daily activities and part of your regular schedule, you need not stop any of your regular activities because you have taken deeksha. Only you have to plan in such a way that your deeksha rituals and your daily routines are a little bit adjusted where you can balance between both of them.
After taking deeksha, the only additional thing you will have is to do morning and evening puja, attend swamy puja's. So if you really need to accommodate, you can wake up early to plan for both or if really time cant be adjusted, then decrease the time you do for gym and yoga to balance between your deeksha schedule and daily schedule.
I pray swamy for you and your family. May swamy shower his blessings on you all.

ReplyDeleteOm Guru Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
DeleteYou can wear Ayyappa Mala without any inhibitions or doubts. That is all part of your education and you are learning. So do not have any doubts and you can go ahead.
I pray swamy for you and your family. May swamy shower his blessings on you all.
Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
I'm frequently traveling at that time no one in home(Door locked) also..
ReplyDeleteHow can I manage sannidhanam.
Om Guru Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
DeleteIf you have established peetham, then you should not leave it like that, some one should take care of it.If your family members or relatives are there they can take care or else if any other swamy in your troupe can take care of it, just hand over the keys to them.
And during travel, if you have swamy photo with you, you can place it at a clean place where ever you stay and depending on your time, circumstances and capacity offer various upacharas( like dhupam, deepam, naivedyam, pushpam, gandham, abhisekham etc) to swamy. if not possible atleast chant saranalu or visit nearyby temple and chant saranalu.
I pray swamy for you and your family. May swamy shower his blessings on all of you.May your deeksha and sabari yatra be fruitful by the grace of swamy.
Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
swamy, i started deeksha before 12 days. But because of financial hurdles i am not able to concentrate on god. feeling very frustrated and not able to sleep properly because of this im not able to wake up early morning. is it still sugegstable to continue with deeksha?and also, is it mandatory to go sabarimala? or can i go to any punyakshtram near by?
ReplyDeleteOm Guru Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
DeleteBasing on your questions, I am assuming that you have taken the deeksha for first time. Please understand few things. The main purpose of the deeksha is to know thyself whether somebody is aware about it or not. This is the final goal. But to reach this goal and realise it, one has to cross so many steps in between. The 18 steps which you find at sabarimala temple is one way of symbolic representation of those hurdles such as kama, krodha, lobha, madha, matysarya, ahankara etc. Every year when you take deeksha and visit swamy, we do saranagathi means submitting to lord that I do not have enough strength to reach to the goal, you only need to pull me to reach this goal. This is the essence of always chanting saranam to swamy. So every year when you take deeksha and visit swamy, swamy removes one hurdle from your path and make you more strong. That is for example this year you visited swamy and you have shed krodha, then again you should never get anger on anyone. Then next year one more hurdle. Like this if you dont leave swamy and stay attached to him by regularly going to sabarimala, you will move ahead and reach this goal.
This is just like a piece of iron when staying connected to a magnet will acquire the magnetic qualities and behave like a magnet. Similarly after all the hurdles are crossed and you are free of all those attributes, you are pure and there is no ego left in you, then swamy sits in your heart and use you as his tool or in another way you become one with swamy and you are no different than swamy. It is just like this till the river flows on land you identify with a name like ganga, godavari etc, but once it merges with sea, it has no more self identity and called as sea only. Similarly once swamy sits in our heart or we become one with swamy, we are no more recognised with our own identity and is called swamy only. To reach to this state and final goal, we begin the first step of taking deeksha and visit sabarimala and have darshan of swamy. The deeskha is completed once we visit sabarimala and have the darshan of lord. Regarding the problems or hurdles which you have mentioned which are distracting you, I would like to suggest a small technique.
contd ..
A problem is actually not a problem till you feel it is a problem. It all lies in how you look at the circumstance. If you think it as an opportunity or as a step to your goal, then it looks as challenge to solve rather than as a hurdle which blocks your path. I dont think you had a sudden financial hurdle, maybe if you sit cool and plan carefully you can find solution or else discuss with someone trustworthy whom you believe so that you can get some idea to come out of this crisis and move ahead. Just a small thing, if you want to make a stick as small, you need not break it, you can still place a bigger stick beside this so that it becomes small. Just like that, you can place swamy as the bigger stick besides your financial hurdles which is the stick.
DeleteActually deeksha gives you more self control, more discipline, more inner peace, more satisfaction, more strength to face your day to day activities. And it is a blessing to have swamy mala. You are having the blessings of your parents or someone because you have taken the mala. Now have only one thing to visit swamy, pray to swamy whole heartedly and he will help you to solve your problems. He is an ocean of mercy. He is the authority to give completely and in abundance whatever you ask for. That is the reason he is called purna pushakala sameta hari hara suta ayyappa. One need not fear that his turn may not come, even if so many are seeking him and getting from him, still he has abundance to give and that too completely. So submit your inability and pray to him to give you enough strength to face the situations as well bail you out from this difficult situations.
Always move with good people. You will get positive energy and you will be able to face any kind of situation and help others, you will get blessings and satisfaction.
I pray swamy for you and your family. May swamy shower his blessings on you all. May your deeksha and sabari yatra be fruitful by the grace of swamy.
Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
thank you swamy.

Swamy, can we help women who are in need or completely dependent on us during the ayyappa Deeksha?? I mean can we help them through the technology like SMS when they need us the most during this period?
ReplyDeleteOm Guru Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
DeleteYou can definitely help women who are in need or completely dependent on you during the deeksha. You need not shed your duties or responsibilities towards your family. You can interact with them or talk to them.Just because you have taken deeksha doesnt mean, you ignore your duty or responsibility towards your family which is dependent on you. Who will do your duties and responsibilities?.
But just take care that you do not interact with them during their time of periods. During such time, just keep yourself away or if you are having peetham at home, have provision where you dont interact with them directly or communicate to them through some family member. Only where you dont have any other option, you communicate to them through technology like sms, whatsapp etc.
Deeksha should help you to become more stronger and balance your life, not to ignore your duties and responsibilities. It is more of inner transformation, rather than outer exhibition.
In general, being with females is distracting you, then in such case, you can avoid their physical promixity, but if you are still thinking about them in your mind, then it doesnt make much difference because, you are still having them in your mind. And if you donot get distracted by being with females and you are in your absolute normal, then interacting with them doesnt impact your deeksha.
Rather to say, you will be in your normal when you are interacting with your mother. So you need to have the same motherly feeling towards all the females, then you will not get distracted and be in your normal when you interact with them. That is one of the main reason why you call any female as matha during deeksha time or any person as swamy. You are training your mind to look only swamy throughout this universe and every form and minutest of atom is permeated by swamy. This you need to realize and practice it.
I pray swamy for you and your family. May swamy bless all of you. May your deeksha and sabari yatra be fruitful by the grace of swamy and you have wonderful darshan of swamy.

Swamy our group is starting to Sabarimala on 6th January 2018, on which date should I put the Mala and start vradham?
ReplyDeleteOm Guru Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!

I pray swamy for you and your family. May swamy shower his blessings on you all. May your deeksha and sabari yatra be fruitful by the grace of swamy and you have the divine darshan of swamy.

ReplyDeleteSwamy I am studying b.tech 2nd year... Sometimes I may have to talk with girls in my class due to some reasons.....is it ok to talk with them??
Om Guru Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
DeleteThere is no such restriction that you should not talk with girls. But when you are talking to them or moving with them, you should see the mother in them and instead if you are seeing the external beauty and that is distracting your focus of deeksha, then you need to avoid it, otherwise if you are in your absolute normal when talking to them or being with them then being with them or talking to them doesnt make any difference.
In general, when you are in deeksha, you should see mother in every girl or woman, that is the reason we call them as matha and every person as swamy. You should be constantly aware of the fact that every form is permeated by swamy only. If you can practise this then you can talk to them.

ReplyDeleteOur father's younger brother passed away on 8, Jan 2017. Can we wear mala this year? when can make pilgrimage visit?
Thank you. Swami Saranam. Swami Saranam.
Om Guru Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
DeleteAs one year is not completed, you can better take the deeksha next year or else you can take deeksha after 1 year completion of your fathers younger brother and visit sabarimala somewhere during feb2018 (12th to 17th) or march2018(14th to 19th) when the temple is open for monthly puja.

ReplyDeleteam working in night shifts from 6pm to 3am so i can't attend evening pooja so am reading ashtothrashatanmalu of all 3 gods and saranalu daily after coming to office and also am sleeping after morning pooja as i told am working in nite shifts swamy can ypu please suggest me do's and dont's while working night shifts please.
Om Guru Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
DeleteAs a human being survival is important. So doing job to maintain yourself and your family is primary. Your job has night shifts, but your desire to take deeksha and have swamy darshan is appreciable. May swamy bless you.
Coming to the point of do's and dont's. Because you are awake in night and have to sleep in the morning, do the pooja after returning from the office and then eat light and then go for sleep, this is like taking alpaharam. And when you wake up, before you go to office, just light the deepam in sannidanam and go, and at office you can read ashtotaram or saranalu basing on your circumstances. Just be aware that you need to have swamy in your heart. Even if you are not physically present in your sannidanam and reading ashtotaram at your office, if you can feel that swamy is sitting in your heart and you are doing puja to the lotus feet of swamy in your heart, then remember your puja is really fulfilled. Otherwise if you are just doing it for the sake of reading just like a cassette player, then better to chant saranalu. Whatever you do whether read ashtotaram or chant saranalu, do it peacefully and whole heartedly, not for the sake of doing it. Probably you can have a full dinner here because you need to wake up the whole night. These can be adjusted according to your regular routine either eat full in morning and eat alpharam in night or vice-versa.
Do not involve in gossiping, being idle and wasting your energy. If you identify some weakness within yourself, try to overcome them. Always spend time qualitatively by learning new things or helping yourself or others, but do not be idle.
Then whenever possible visit temples, attend swamy pujas, do seva whatever is possible to your capacity, try to share whatever knowledge you have with others, try to help others according to your capacity, always try to think positive, speak positive, act positive. Try to see swamy in everybody. Try to see mother in every woman.Try to spend more time with people having positive attitude like guruswamy or any senior swamys or even any friend or relative. Try to read ramayana, mahabharatha, bhagavatha, bhagavad geetha etc or listen to swamy songs or good pravachans.
Remember one thing, rules are for humans, humans are not for rules. So at the end of the deeksha, you should be able to see the inner transformation in yourself. Deeksha should help you to be a better person. You should be able to handle emotions like kama (desire),krodha(anger),lobha(greed), moha(delusory emotional attachment or temptation), mada(pride),matsarya(envy, jealousy) and above all ahankara(ego) etc. in much better way.
I pray swamy for you and your family. May swamy shower his blessings on you all. May your deeksha and sabari yatra be fruitful by the grace of swamy and you have a divine darshan of swamy.

Om Guru Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
Deleteif you plan to take mandala deeksha (41 days), then you should have already taken deeksha by 27 oct 2017 to visit sabarimala by 8 Dec 2017, if you have any other plans like 21 days or 11 days etc, then consult your guruswamy and act according to his instructions.

Swamy this is first time tanke deeksha it is mandatory to go sabari yatra from peddapadam or can i go from chinnapadam also, can you please explain because of i got knee legment surgery. thank you
ReplyDeleteOm Guru Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
DeleteIt is not mandatory that you should go for peddapadam, you can also go from chinnapadam. But most of the people prefer going in pedda padam as it is believed that this was the path in which swamy has walked and we will also walk along the same path. But as you are saying that you had a knee surgery, then instead of straining your leg, you can go in a doli in case if your knee is troubling you.

swami im wearing first time for Appayya mala ... is anything not good for wearning 21days at first time ... and can i cut my birthday cake during Ayyappa mala ???
ReplyDeleteOm Guru swamiye saranam ayyappa!
DeleteIt is suggested to take deeksha for 41 days. Until and unless you have very strong reason which you need to discuss with your guruswamy and if he permits then only you take for 21 days otherwise preferable is 41 days only. Instead of cutting cake and doing party sort of thing, better you can arrange for swamy puja and do annadan in your home and you get blessings of swamy.

ReplyDeleteI am a kanne swamy... Daily I have to travel for 5hrs to my college in bus.... Unknowingly sometimes I fall into sleep during the travel, I am unable to control the sleep. Is it ok to sleep?
Om Guru Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
DeleteThere are two things which you need to consider. First is the food, eat satvik food and eat in moderate, dont overeat so that you feel sleepy and dont undereat so that you feel hungry again. Eat in moderate so that you can balance the need of your body and the deeksha rules. Try avoid eating spices, pickles, fries etc which can make your stomach heavy and you feel sleepy. The second point is not giving needed rest to the body. You have to plan your schedule so that there is a balance between your deeksha life and your personal life such as college and other activities. If you donot give the minimum rest your body needs, you will fall asleep at other times, and if you are sleeping even after giving the body necessary sleep, then it indicates you are somewhere lazy- in such case, you can stand for some time, then sit for some time, listen to swamy songs or talk some good topics or subject topics with your friends.
In general sleeping in day time is not suggested, you need to give needed rest to body at the night time. Balance in life is more important in all aspects. Check your schedule and adjust accordingly.
I pray swamy for you and your family. May swamy shower his blessings on all of you.

Om Guru Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
DeleteYes you can participate in any puja or vratham or similarly visit any punyakshetra, absolutely no problem, only thing is you need to take care of your peetham if you have established one. Maybe a swamy from your troupe may perform the puja at your peetham or else you can ask some friend or relative to take care of your peetham, but they should take a head bath and light the deepam and offer naivedya to the lord. And during your travel, you follow your deeksha rules, such as chant saranalu in the morning and evening and visit some nearby temple.
I pray swamy for you all. May swamy shower his blessings on you all. May your deeksha and sabari yatra be fruiful by the grace of swamy.

Swamy Saranam Guru Swamy !!
ReplyDeleteI have completed 41 days Deeksha and done with Ayyappa Darshanam on oct 16th. By god grace everything going good. Again I am planning to go to Peddapadam in January and have Ayyappa darshanam ! As 41 days Deeksha is already done in October I am not taking Deeksha but want to go to Peddapadam
As I am not taking Deeksha , so can I take Ghee or anything which can be similar like Irumudi (but not irumudi) for Ayyappa abhishekam .
Guru swamy , advise me what best can be taken to god seva via the Peddapadam
Om Guru Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
DeleteBlessed are you, that you already visited swamy and planning to visit him again via peddapadam. The best form of seva is offering food to someone hungry. If possible do annadan enroute peddapadam according to your capacity. Or atleast offer fruits to swamy's going via peddapadam. Or offer the seva of massaging the feet of swamy's going via peddapadam. The help you do them to move ahead in their path of peddapadam, you just cant imagine the blessings which you receive.
Regarding your desire of taking ghee to swamy, if some swamy is willing to take an extra mudra kaya (coconut filled with ghee), you can request him to carry your mudra kaya also along with his mudra kaya in his irumudi and what can you do to him do all possible seva.
I pray swamy for you and your family. May your desire be fulfilled by the grace of swamy. May swamy shower his blessings on you all.

ReplyDeleteI am going to sabari on 30th, Nov. By train from Hyderabad.....Food is not available during daytime and night time and even taking bath in train during nights is difficult.....Plzzz give me some suggestions
Om Guru Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
DeleteOnce you have taken irumudi on your head and started for sabari yatra, it means that you are the carrier of swamy and you are not bound by strict rules of deeksha like you have at your home. You have to go according to the rules of travel and cirumstances. If it is possible take the bath, else chant the name of swamy and apply vibhuti which is considered as bhasma snanam. And once you reach pamba, there you can take the holy dip and have the bath there. Similarly you can pack food from your home and if not possible eat what you get enroute. But whatever you eat, first offer it to swamy and then eat it as the prasadam of swamy. Dharma depends on location, time etc. If you are at home, then you need to follow everything, that is the dharma (@home), but when you are in travel, you have to act according to the circumstance.that is the dharma(@travel).
I pray swamy for you and your family. May swamy shower his blessings on you all and may your deeksha and sabari yatra be fruiful by the grace of swamy and you have a wonderful darshan of swamy.

You should be more thankful to the lord, because your father had taken deeksha, your father had been protected and his bad karma had been removed by lord with a smaller incident.

Om Guru Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
DeleteSwamy, everything happens for our good only though we are aware of it or not.Lord is an ocean of mercy and he safeguards his devotees once we chant saranam ayyappa. The divine leelas of the lord are unknown and uncountable. One cant understand the divine plan. It might be a offering to pamba from your side and lord is protecting you from something adverse thing. You are thinking that you lost it, but swamy is willing to give you something new and best suited for you. Accept the decision of lord and be contentful. Be ready to shower in his grace. Only time will tell you the answer that how lord has saved you from a bigger calamity by making you offer your mala to pamba.Big result for a small offering. So be happy that you have offered to pamba and in return you will be getting something which you cant imagine. Different are the ways of Lord and his mercy is boundless.
I Pray for you and your family. I see the benevolent grace of Lord in this incident. May swamy shower his blessings on you all.

ReplyDeleteOm Guru Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
DeleteSabarimala temple will be closed on 20 Jan 2018. So you have two options either visit sabarimala before 20 Jan 2018 and continue the deeksha till 24 Jan 2018 and then remove mala or continue deeksha for few more days till feb 2018 when the temple opens for monthly puja between 12 Feb 2018 to 17 Feb 2018 and visit swamy during these 5 days and then remove the mala after sabarimala yatra. See your convenience and discuss with your guruswamy and act accordingly.

ReplyDeleteOm Guru Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
DeleteKanne Swamy's are not supposed to put down or pick up their irumudi by themselves, so they are supposed to travel to sabarimala under the guidance of a guruswamy. If any batch of ayyappa devotees are going on jan 10 , you can travel with them and the remaining days you can continue in deeksha after returning back from sabarimala and then take out mala. or else if you are able to find a guruswamy, then complete the deeksha and travel along with him.
I pray swamy for you and your family. May swamy shower his blessings on you all. May your deeksha and sabari yatra be fruiful by the grace of swamy and you have a divine darshan of swamy.

ReplyDeleteOm Guru Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
DeleteYou can take mandala deeksha anytime,if you take deeksha this week, then probably your deeksha completes any time next month and you wont be able to visit sabarimala in Jan, so you have to plan your travel to sabarimala during the monthly puja of feb or in march. So plan accordingly. You can further discuss with your guruswamy regarding the dates and travel plan.
Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
Om Guru Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
ReplyDeleteYes, It is designed like that, deekshadari swamy's are not supposed to meet them or convey their condolences during their deeksha period. You can meet them once your deeksha is completed after your sabarimala yatra. In the meantime, you can inform them through a common friend about your inability to meet them during this period as you have taken deeksha and probably you will meet them in person after your return from sabarimala. I think everyone will understand about this and no one feels bad, that you have not come during your deeksha.

Dear swami can we wear mala on Tuesday (Jan 2nd 2018)
ReplyDeleteGoing to Malai on 4th (irumudi)
Om Guru Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
DeleteIt is preferable if you do deeksha for 41 days and visit sabarimala if you want to climb the 18 steps, otherwise if you just want to have darshan of swamy, you can visit sabarimala anytime without deeksha also. But just to climb 18 steps, taking deeksha for shorter days is not advisable until and unless you have very strong reason for not taking deeksha for 41 days. And if you have a strong reason, take permission from Guruswamy and if agrees, then you can go ahead.

ReplyDeleteSwamiye saranam ayyappa.. Guruswamy,.. I have taken deeksha on 26 Nov and it is about to complete in next 3 days. Unfortunately, while cleaning sannidhanam, I have accidentally hit the table on which Swamy photo has been kept and photo has moved a bit. I'm really worried about it as it is said that once the photo is moved, our deeksha is completed, please clarify Swamy, as I have done it accidentally..,is my deeksha valid or it is really completed
ReplyDeleteOm Guru Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
DeleteDo not worry! It was accidental and was not intentional, so your deeksha is valid and you can continue with your deeksha and sabari yatra. Pray to swamy for pardon and continue your deeksha.
I pray swamy for you and your family. May swamy shower his blessings on you all. May your deeksha and sabari yatra be fruitful by the grace of swamy and you have a divine darshan of swamy.

ReplyDeleteOn May 7th my Dad’s Brother Son( Cousin) died in accident. It’s been now more than 30 days.
Without Ayyappa Deeksha I am planning to visit Sabarimala (on 15th Jun) for Lord Ayyappa Darshan.
Few of the near by Guru swamy’s are suggesting me to visit Sabarimla after completing 41 days of Cosuin ceremony .
My wish is to see Ayyappa and I need his blessings to overcome my problems in the life.
I always feel relaxed and get into more disciplined life after coming back from Sabarimala because of his blessings .
I got office leaves and temple is also opened in the weekend. Mainly I am waiting for Sabarimala visit. So I am planning to go on 14-Jun.
Please provide your thoughts on visiting Sabarimala before 40 days of brother ceremony.
Regards,
Rajesh
Can we wear ayyapa Swamy mala for three days for the first time??
ReplyDeleteOm Guruswamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
DeletePeople taking deeksha for first time are known as kanni swamy and it is better if you take deeksha for 41 days. As your situation is not known, better consult your guruswamy and discuss with him and act accordingly.

ReplyDeleteI'm taking deeksha for 2nd time after 7 years gap and would like to ask you if I can bath with hot water only for one time due to health reasons. while going to office can I apply oil to my hair as I get headache because of office AC. Please suggest, these two things are making me feel worried.
Swamy,
ReplyDeleteI've already taken Ayyappa Swamy dheeksha. Me and my wife have decided to keep sannidanam at home itself and she'd go to her parents house while the time of menstrual. But all of a sudden her parents has to go out of station for emergency purpose which gives my wife no opportunity to go to her parents house.
So, can we change peetam from one place to another once the dheeksha has been started because of family problems (menstrual).
Plz clarify.

ReplyDeleteSwamy,
ReplyDeleteI am a kanne Swamy and I took Deeksha alone, and not as a group, in a temple under the guidance of temple pujari. Can I travel to Sabrimala alone after 41 days?
Also if for some reason I can't travel to Sabrimala, can I end the Deeksha at dwarapudi (Andhra Sabrimala) which is closer to my home?
Please answer both the questions Swamy.
