Namaskaram! Om Guru Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!
DeleteFirst of all you please understand this basic truth that there is only god or parabrahma. It is only depending on what that parabrahma takes the form and activity, we call it by that name. Say for example it is doing generation we call it brahma, it is doing operation we call it vishnu, if it is doing destruction, we call it shiva.
And as bhagavan himself said in bhagavad geeta, "Whenever virtue subsides and wickedness prevails, I manifest Myself. To establish virtue, to destroy evil, to save the good I come from Yuga (age) to Yuga.". So the other forms which comes in various times of history has a different purpose. For example, it came in Narasimha form to kill Hiranyakasipa, then in SriRama form to kill Ravana, then in SriKrishna form to kill Kamsa and other rakhsas. Similarly it came in the form of Ayyappa to kill demon Mahishi. Once Bhagavan comes in some form, and its purpose is served, he may complete that form or remain on the earth to continue his operation for certain amount of time. So in this kaliyuga there are such two forms namely Lord Venkateswara Swamy and Lord Ayyappa Swamy, who are going to stay on earth till the end of Kaliyuga for the protection of dharma, upliftment of people.
So Ayyappa swamy is the embodiment of dharma, because he is actually dharma sasta and was born out of the boon requested by mahishi that she should be killed only by the son of hari (narayana) and hara (shiva). And so during the ksheera sagar madhana, dharma sasta was actually born and later on came as ayyappa (who was given as a child to the pandala king).
After killing mahishi, a beautiful lady came out of the body of mahishi who requested ayyappa swamy to marry her, but swamy had a different purpose of protecting dharma and uplifting his devotees, so he denied her offer, but on her continuous request, he put a condition saying the year, when a kanne swamy (the person who wears swamy mala for first time) doesn't come to sabarimala, he will marry her. But in the previous form of dharma sastha, he is having two wives namely purna and puskhala. So to be more specific, he is the authority for purnatwam (completeness) and puskhalatwam (abundance) which are shown as wives of swamy. That means
who ever wants something to have in complete, if they visit and pray swamy they will be blessed for completion, like wise if they want something in abundance, they will be blessed in abundance.
After killing mahishi, lord ayyappa as per the request of pandala king asked him to construct a temple for him, where he will be always sitting to protect his devotees and uplift them.In this form of Ayyappa, he is a brahmachari and is not married, but in the form of sastha, he is married. In this form of Ayyappa, he is more interested and comfortable to sit in the yoga mudra to have yoga patta put around his legs and showing the chinmudra. The chinmudra itself shows that your goal should be to know the real truth namely tatwamasi which is the goal and purpose of human life. So the moment you take deeksha and go for sabari yatra to have the darshan of swamy, you are slowly moving towards the realisation of truth and your journey towards this goal has begun and only you need to walk on this path and if you don't leave swamy and every year you visit swamy, you are definitely bound to reach this goal.
contd...
Now coming to the form of Lord shiva, he is authority for doing laya i.e he is known as layakara. He is the one who is staying in the body of each and every living being in the form of air (vayu). That is the reason we call the basic air element as prana vayu. Somebody is considered to be alive if he is still able to breathe, the moment his breath is stopped he is considered dead. There are nine different forms of air, which are present in the bodies of human which keep on working, even if there is slight imbalance in one of the forms of air, one feel uncomfortable and if the air is out of your body, then he is no more alive and considered dead. He is no more recognised with his name, but simply called as body. You can correlate this with any person who is dead. No body will say mr.x or ms.y needs to be moved to the graveyard, they say the body is going to be decayed or it is the time to move the body. So till shiva is there in the body, it is considered subham (auspicious) and the moment shiva leaves the body it is considered asubham (inauspicious). Because shiva is the ultimate authority, he is not impacted with either subham or ashubham or any of the attributes which exist for the humans or there existing in the world and being born as humans our goal is to know shiva and reach shiva(parabrahma). Now to realise this and to reach there, there are different paths and there are different forms (namely durga, shiva, narayana, rama, krishna etc). You are free to to choose any name or form and any path, but the important thing is to have awareness that you need to realise the parabrahma and reach that goal. Having this awareness consciously and putting effort to move towards this goal is called sadhana. It is just like this, if your mobile battery gets discharged, you daily do the charging for mobile. Similarly the mind daily after sleep will forget the goal and starts towards every other activity, so you need to daily recharge the mind so that it remembers your goal and you can only travel in that path and doesn't get deviated. Now it is your choice in which path you want to travel. There are nine devotional paths mentioned for your choice namely
Delete1. Sravanam
Listening to the Lord's stories, Leelas and Mahimas.
2.Kirtanam
Singing the glories of the Lord's Name.
3.Smaranam
Remembrance of Lord's Name.
4.Pada Sevanam
Service to the Lotus Feet of the Lord.
5.Archanam
Worship of the Lord.
6.Vandanam (like akrura done to srikrishna)
Salutation of the Lord.
7.Dasyam
Master and Servant Relationship like the one between Sri Rama and Hanuman.
8.Sakhyam
Companionship of the Lord (like arjuna with srikrishna).
9.Atma Nivedanam
Offering oneself to the Lord in complete self-surrender.
So coming to one of the paths ayyappa swamy mala dharana, this deals with guru tatwa and guru is the one who makes you realise this goal of parabrahma. And again when you approach a guru and follow his path, there will be two options namely guru takes the responsibility of the disciple and taking him towards the goal is the responsibility of the guru only and in second option, guru just guides and the entire responsibility of putting the effort to move ahead in the path lies with disciple or the aspirant to reach that goal.
We prefer ayyappa swamy deeksha because here the entire responsibility of taking the aspirant towards the goal is taken care by swamy, that is the main reason why we are always chanting saranu ghosa, we are submitting sarangathi to swamy saying, our inability to move towards the goal, you are the one who needs to take care about us and we are surrendering to you. So even if we are having inability, because of his mercy swamy blesses us and slowly corrects us, or removes our inconsistencies, or clears our blocks and slowly takes us towards this goal, only one thing we need to do, have faith on swamy and totally surrender to him and doesnt leave him.
contd...
So as part of deeksha rules, we are trying to clean our body and mind so that swamy can sit in our heart and take charge of our life, because we are surrendering to him completely, now it is the responsibility of swamy to drive our life. It is just like this, if you dont know how to drive a car and hand it over to somebody else to drive, then you just sit in the car and let the driver drive it. Similarly, when you request swamy to drive your life vehicle by surrendering to him and making him sit in your heart. you need to ensure that always the cleanliness and purity is maintained in your heart and body, just like the purity and sanctity maintained in a temple. Now your body is like a temple where swamy is sitting. Now if you can have this realisation and awareness where you become one with shiva, you are no where concerned or bound by the rules, but till you reach that stage , you need to follow the rules of deeksha. so deeksha rules say it is void to see dead bodies or touch them. In general inauspicious things drain out energy, where as auspicious things preserve and build energy levels. And deeksha is a tool where we are trying to protect and build our energy levels, it is not suggested to touch or see dead body.
DeleteI hope you understand this by the grace of swamy. I pray for you and your family. May swamy shower his blessings on you.

ReplyDeleteSwamy i weared mala and staying out of my house and my brother is also staying out of my house can my brother eat non veg he is not staying with us please replay soon
ReplyDeleteI have a doubt that is on wearing mala also some swamis saying lies on other swami to some one ànd heis keeping sticks between them and make them to fight
ReplyDeleteOm Guru Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa
DeleteI understand your concern, that after wearing the mala, they are doing these sort of activities which is not correct. But please try to look in a different perspective.
No body is perfect and everyone is having some sort of weakness. Taking mala and following the deeksha rules is only to get transformed from inner. They have taken the first step by taking the deeksha, and slowly if they stick to the deeksha and visit swamy, they will definitely get transformed. That is the power of swamy deeksha. They are bound to get transformed. And transformation when it happens we cant say, just they need to stick to swamy and it will happen. Just like a piece of iron when it gets into contact with a magnet will acquire the magnetic qualities and will become and behave like a magnet, just like milk when it is in contact with curd becomes like a curd, similarly they are bound to become righteous and become useful to themselves, their family and the universe.
Have patience and pray for them, so that they stick to swamy, when you find these kind of people it means that they are not able to overcome their weakness, then you should support them to become strong and overcome their weakness, rather then becoming angry with them and cursing them or scolding them and finding fault with them that they are misbehaving after taking deeksha also.
So if possible just try to guide them properly and dont expect everybody to transform immediately. You do your part and leave the rest to lord. If that is not possible, then tell them atleast not to leave swamy and continue their deeksha every year, where swamy will take care of them. Be assured, he will take care.
Human weakness which have cultivated over the years in the lives of people are difficult to remove immediately and it takes time to completely uproot them. But yes it is possible and it will happen, just they need to be in the promixity of the lord.
I appreciate your concern, but think from the positive perspective, nobody intentionally does it, out of their ignorance they might do it, when some person, or event or a word sparkles the knowledge, their darkness of ignorance will vanish and they will never do it again. If we are concerned, we need to make them aware about this or if we cant do it, atleast encourage them to continue from where He will take care.
I pray for you and your family. May swamy shower his blessings on all of you and give you enough strength to understand people around you in a positive perspective and help them while fulfilling your aspirations.
